Visceral ManipulationVisceral Manipulation is gentle hands-on therapy that encourages normal mobility, tone, and inherent tissue motion of the viscera, nerves, vessels and surrounding tissue. “Viscera” refers to the internal organs of the abdomen, such as the liver, gall bladder, kidneys and intestines. Restrictions of the viscera may be due to a number of factors, including pathology of internal organs, diet, pregnancy, poor posture, surgery or infections. The internal organs require freedom of movement in the abdomen to be healthy and function properly. Visceral Manipulation helps release restrictions and unhealthy compensations that cause pain and dysfunction. As the body compensates for this lack of movement, other issues begin to appear. For example, pain and limited movement in the neck, shoulders, ribcage, hips, low back and pelvis is commonly the direct result of visceral restriction. If this is the case, these problems will persist until the source (the organs) are treated and released. A variety of other conditions can also arise, including Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), acid reflux, ulcers, and various types of pelvic pain. Visceral Manipulation will help to locate and correct these restrictions, leading to improved body and organ health. |
