Mechanical Traction

Want to get taller?

We can’t help you there, but mechanical traction may help provide some relief from back pain and neck pain.

Traction helps by taking pressure off your spinal nerves and the surrounding muscles.

It’s most commonly used for pain caused by a trapped nerve (nerve compression) with tissue injury involving local swelling and pressure. It can also be used to relieve joint compression and stiffness due to muscle tone and overload on top of an arthritic spine.

Traction is not a long term solution but has been found to sometimes offer immediate pain relief, as well as a reduction in problems associated with nerve compression, such as weakness and paraesthesia.

Traction isn’t for everyone, so ask your physiotherapist whether it might be helpful.
